Oeh: The Crown genomineerd voor 18 Emmy Awards

Er zijn het afgelopen jaar weer heel wat fijne series verschenen op tv en op de streaming-diensten. Om hen in het zonnetje te zetten, zijn gisteren weer de nominaties voor de jaarlijkse Emmy Awards onthuld. Hierbij is de royal dramaserie The Crown één van de grote kanshebbers.

Nog héél even geduld, want in september is het eindelijk weer zover: dan worden in een glitzy ceremonie de grote winnaars van de Emmy's bekendgemaakt. In de aanloop naar dat glamoureuze evenement, worden traditiegetrouw eerst de lijsten met genomineerden onthuld. Met wekenlange campagnes hopen Hollywood-bobo's hun parels aan te prijzen bij de selectiecommissie, en dat levert in sommige gevallen een imposante lijst nominaties op!

Grote kanshebbers

Onder hen bevindt zich onder andere The Crown. Het laatste seizoen van de zinderende Netflix-serie rond het Britse koninklijk huis heeft maar liefst achttien nods gekregen van de selectie.

Zo maakt The Crown kans in de categorieën Beste dramaserie, Beste regie en Beste scenario. Ook krijgen Imelda Staunton (voor haar rol als Elizabeth) en Dominic West (die de rol van Charles op zich nam) een nominatie als beste acteur in een dramaserie.

Hoewel het natuurlijk een indrukwekkend aantal nominaties is, zijn er een aantal series die nóg meer kans maken om in de prijzen te vallen. Zo ging Only Murders in the Building ervandoor met 21 nominaties, maakt The Bear maar liefst 23 keer kans, en is de serie Shōgun een whopping 25 keer genomineerd.

We moeten dus nog even geduld hebben tot 15 september, wanneer de uitreiking plaatsvindt in Los Angeles. Maar goed, dat betekent ook dat er nog flink wat tijd is om alle genomineerde series te bingen!
