Dat prins Harry en prins William nogal wat onenigheid hebben op dit moment, is vast niemand ontgaan. Opvallend genoeg vergelijkt Harry, in een interview met Tom Bradby, de relatie van Archie en Lilibet met die van hem en William.
Rivaliteit
De Duke of Sussex begint in het interview te vertellen over zijn relatie met zijn broer. "liefde, maar ook afstand", zo omschrijft Harry de relatie. Zoals bij alle broers en zussen, is er wel eens sprake van rivaliteit onderling. Dit heeft ongetwijfeld nog een extra dimensie als het gaat om een reserve-troonopvolger en kroonprins. Harry legt uit, "Toen we klein waren, trok onze moeder ons vaak dezelfde kleren aan. William vond dat niks en ik herinner me dat ik het juist wel grappig vond."
"Maar de rivaliteit tussen broers en zussen werd later pas duidelijk voor mij. Bijvoorbeeld toen William en ik naar dezelfde school gingen en William niks van me moest weten, en weet je, als jongere broer deed dat toch een beetje pijn", legt Harry uit. De prins begreep vroeger niet waarom William deze houding had tegenover hem. Maar toen hij zelf kinderen kreeg, begon hij dit steeds meer te snappen.
Lilibet en Archie
"Het leeftijdsverschil tussen mij en William is bijna gelijk aan dat van Archie en Lili", legt hij uit, en zijn eigen kinderen leren hem veel over zijn band met zijn broer. "Ik zie hoe Lili achter Archie aanloopt en dat Archie zoiets heeft van 'Nee Lili, ik heb mijn ruimte nodig.' Ik snap nu hoe irritant de jongere broer of zus kan zijn", aldus Harry.
Relatie
Bovendien maakt Harry in het interview duidelijk dat het niet zijn intentie is om zijn vader en broer pijn te doen met het uitbrengen van zijn boek. En hoewel de ene na de andere onthulling over de gecompliceerde band tussen de broers naar buiten komt, zegt Harry: "Ik houd van mijn vader en van mijn broer. Ik houd van mijn familie en dat zal ik altijd doen."
